First generation Subaru Ascent
In order to grow its brand and retain its loyal customers, Subaru needed a vehicle larger than its Outback, and in 2019, the company filled that gap with the all-new Ascent. The largest model Subaru had ever offered, the Ascent featured three rows of seats, a spacious cargo area, and most importantly, 19 cupholders. Customers could opt for a bench seat or buckets in the second row, and the seats could slide forward to provide extra room for third-row passengers. An eight-inch touchscreen display was available at launch, upgraded to 11.6 inches in 2023.
All versions of the Ascent came standard with a new 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which provided up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped
. Like almost every other Subaru, the Ascent featured the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with torque vectoring for improved performance on and off road. All Subaru Ascents came standard with Subaru’s EyeSight® driver-assist system, which included adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, and automatic emergency braking.Model highlights
