Interior Space
Put a bed in the back and went on a two+ month roadtrip all over the SW, in winter. Super happy with it.
Weather Versatility
Drove in snow, mud and clay. Handled like a champ and I knew I could trust it.
Reliability
Reliability
While dispersed camping, I was surprised by a dead battery, three days in a row. Likely because of doors being left open sporadically, but what gives?

Cabin Noise
I was expecting the interior to be noisy, given that this is a truck with rugged truck tires on it. Surprisingly, it is quieter than my wife’s Outback
Seat Comfort
Reading reviews, people often complained about the front seats. I’m not a huge guy and I find the seats fairly comfortable, even on a long drive.
Reliability
Second generation Tacoma’s are known for their reliability. That’s why I specifically sought out this particular model and year.
Ride and Handling
I was coming from a German High-end car, so I notice that the ride comfort and handling is not what I’ve become accustomed to. However, for a truck, it isn’t that bad.
Technology and Entertainment
The radio head-unit is fairly basic, but reliable. Finding pre-programmed Satellite radio stations is a bit of a hunt-and-peck compared to more modern displays.
Fuel Economy
The V-6 has plenty of power and is super reliable. The downside is that it only gets 18-21 mpg regardless of city or highway driving.
Ride and Handling
Trailhunter OME suspension and 33” tire setup is great right out of the box.
Weather Versatility
Never have to worry about adverse weather conditions with this truck.
Technology and Entertainment
Built in light bar and AUX switches are my favorite features. The towing technology package is a great bonus as well. The camera system is clear and easy to get used to.
Fuel Economy
The Trailhunter is HEAVY, so I get lower than advertised MPG. Hybrid system is not designed for fuel economy, but rather a boost in power. That said, for me it’s all about Smiles-Per-Gallon!
Visibility
Rear window visibility leaves much to be desired. The video camera rear view is a life saver in this case!
Interior Space
The hybrid system eliminates storage under the seat. It’s definitely a trade off worth considering for this trim. But for me, a built over lander Tacoma under warranty was a worthy trade off.
Braking
The Brake Stop is great
Cargo Space
Lots of space
Ride and Handling
Smooth ride handles nicely.
