Ride and Handling
The Tiguan handles very similarly to my midsize sedan but is very smooth. It grips corners and takes straightaways head on.
Interior Space
Despite it being a compact to midsize SUV, it has a ton of space! I’m 5’11 and don’t even have to push my seat all the way back. Even so, there’s a ton of room in the back and I’ve got the model with the 3rd row.
Technology and Entertainment
Coming from an entry level sedan this car is the Taj Mahal. Apple CarPlay, Start/Stop function, overhead interior night lighting within the panoramic sunroof, an absolutely beautiful car. The stereo is incredible, but still quiet outside of the vehicle.
Fuel Economy
Coming from a sedan, I had hoped for a midsize SUV with a little better fuel economy. It is better than most, usually garnering 22-26mpg depending on how much time I spend on the highway.
Braking
Volkswagen takes some getting used to when it comes to gas and break. They are very touchy on the gas and break pedals, despite my model being a 2018. I think that has to do with the way the pedals are connected but either way, with some adjustment and relearning, its become natural.
Cargo Space
The cargo space is phenomenal unless you have the 3rd row up: then you’ve got about 6in width of space between the back of the seat and the trunk door. I got a cargo organizer and it’s been great, but if you want to haul a lot, you won’t be able to have that 3rd row up.
Fuel Economy
I love the fuel economy.
Visibility
People see me coming!
Cargo Space
There’s plenty of space in the cargo area and the 2nd seats fold down for more room.
