What I Love About My 2022 Nissan Rogue After Almost 1 Year

PUBLISHED TUESDAY, JULY 23, 2024

CarMax customer, William, had an SUV that was reaching pretty high mileage. After a couple months of research—and one return to get the turbo engine he really wanted—William decided to purchase a used 2022 Nissan Rogue SL in December 2023. We sat down with William to learn more about why he picked the Nissan Rogue and how things are going now.

  • Nothing so far!

What were your must-haves in a car?

All the winter stuff like heated seats and heated steering wheel. I also really needed all-wheel drive.

I love sunroofs. I really like having open air without the wind blowing in my face from an open window. I also needed the car to be comfortable for me. I'm 63, so comfort at this point in my life is important.

  • All-wheel drive for colder weather

Why did you decide on the Rogue?

I'm one of those people that research cars before they go out and start looking. I researched the best used SUVs from 2020 to 2023. To my surprise, the Nissan Rogue popped up on a lot of lists and I had never even considered a Nissan Rogue.

The Mazda CX5 and CX50, which I like, also popped up on the lists, as did the Subaru Forester. I'm not a big fan of the Forester, personally, but I like the little Crosstrek. I narrowed it down to those three, and I went to my local CarMax, where I tested all of them.

The Rogue was the most comfortable for me (it was no comparison). It had the support for my back I needed, the legroom, the headroom, and all that stuff. So, I just said, this is the one. Is there a reason you chose 2022 over another year? I originally purchased a 2021 Rogue from CarMax, and I was happy with it. Then for some reason I was still looking on their website and this 2022 Nissan Rogue SL popped up. It was the exact same color, exact same interior, but it had the new turbo engine.

I had it transferred to my local CarMax, and I drove it and I thought, “Wow, I really like this. The turbo engine is fast.” With CarMax’s return policy, I brought the 2021 back to CarMax and bought the 2022, no questions asked. It was great.

What are your favorite features in the 2022 Nissan Rogue?

I do like the room in the driver's seat. For me, it's very comfortable and I love that.

The automatic rear hatch closes with either a button I can push, or I can swing my foot under the rear of the car if my hands are full and the gate comes down automatically. It's a great feature when you have a lot of groceries to carry in. I haven't had much opportunity to test it, but I love the turbo engine.

I'm a very practical person and practicality and functionality is important for me. The Rogue checks both of those boxes, as does the interior. I think it is beautifully designed. I really like the layout of the dashboard and the controls—they’re very intuitive.

My 2022 Rogue is the Scarlet Ember color and that's another reason why I like the Rogue so much. Most of the cars out there are either white, black, or silver. I like that the Rogue has lots of color options.

Anything you don’t like?

I haven't found anything that I don't like about the car!

How does it do on road trips?

I had to drive to Detroit from Chicago and back a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time I've really had it on an extended road trip—it performed well, was very comfortable, and got great gas mileage.
