Good car for families but bad inspection

This car has a niche for people who need to seat 7 comfortably without rear seat access issues, provide legitimately comfortable third row seating, have good cargo options, and don’t want a minivan.

Pros

  • Seat Comfort: While not by favorite brand, GM has figured out large family seating where no one else has in an SUV. Two generous captains chairs in the middle with ample passage room to good third row seating for three. The third row does come at the price of trunk space, but if the main objective is just getting 6 and 7 people around most of the time, you can always consider a hitch and trailer for large trip carrying capacity
  • Value: This is among the more economic options for a car of this size and configuration these days. There is a effort from GM to try to be competitive in overall styling ad amenities with premium brands at a little less front end cost.
  • Cabin Noise: Both and pro and con depending on how you look at it, but I don’t have to hear all the conversations in the back of the car! Not good when I need to, of course.

Cons

  • Braking: Stopping power is very disappointing for almost any vehicle I’ve driven. It shouldn’t be a consideration for cost cutting and should be a high priority in any vehicle.
  • Reliability: This has less to do with the Enclave as it does with CarMax and the preinspection of the vehicle. This vehicle was inspected both by its origin site and the one I bought it from, and there was no notice of the amount of underbody rust, particularly along the exhaust line. The exhaust blew a hole in the side in less than 6 months of ownership due to the amount of rust on the exhaust. This ended up not being covered under warranty and became a major out of pocket cost, along with a pretty sizable scheduled maintenance cost. The major scheduled maintenance really should be addressed ahead of sales, and something like underbody rust of this level really should be standard addressed items before sales.

Very roomy vehicle at a good price!

Overall the vehicles are pretty good, but the communications from department to department is not the very best.

Pros

  • Interior Space: Lots of space
  • Seat Comfort: Very comfortable seats
  • Cargo Space: Plenty of storage space

Cons

  • Braking: Ongoing issue, is what deemed within standards. Hopefully that means safe to drive, if we have an accident as a result of the brakes we or our beneficiaries will definitely use this to our/their advantage.
  • Cabin Noise: While it's not completely bad, it's not a quite ride.
  • Value: After additional research, I found much better pricing at other dealerships

Great Car

Comfortable, quiet ride, excellent handling, plenty of power, plenty of nice accessories.

Pros

  • Cabin Noise: The Enclave is much quieter road noise than our previous Buick LaCrosse.
  • Ride and Handling: Road handling is excellent.
  • Interior Space: Now we have much more room, especially for large suitcases, than our LaCrosse.

Cons

  • Fuel Economy: The fuel economy isn't as good as our previous Buick's.
  • Technology and Entertainment: We should have gotten an Enclave with the CD player.
  • Styling: A lot of dirt accumulates on the rear liftgate & is difficult to remove.
