Great for mountain driving!

It's big enough to haul stuff around, including people, but small enough to fit into parking spaces and still get good mileage. I love shifting gears, which is helpful when driving in the mountains.

Pros

  • Braking: Saved my bacon when somebody pulled out in front of me one day!
  • Dashboard: Easy to read, sporty, but not too much stuff. I love the ability to know the gas mileage in the moment!
  • Interior Space: Just right.

Great car buying experience, ok Subi

It’s a beautiful car, love the style and interior. I don’t love the handling. The steering feels like it over corrects. I have had other Crosstrecks and this isn’t the best year. Also, the sound syste...

Great features and aesthetics

It is small trailer capable, relatively good insurance pricing, easy to work on, etc.

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: Nice tight steering, it maneuvers like a much smaller car. However, shifting between 1st and 2nd gear is a little challenging. Be sure to give it plenty of throttle and slowly ease off of the clutch.
  • Visibility: Excellent visibility out of the back and side windows.
  • Value: It, like most Subarus are a little more expensive than other brands due to import fees, but it is a good value for it's cost.

Cons

  • Seat Comfort: Not very comfortable for long rides. Lower back soreness and stiffness begins at a couple hours into a trip. I am 6'3 160lbs.
  • Technology and Entertainment: Infotainment system often freezes, glitches out, etc. It will not respond to touch. Additionally, the radio will always turn on automatically when you start the car. Even if you shut it off immediately before turning the key. It will be at whatever volume you shut the car off at, so be prepared.
  • Power: The 2.0L engine gets the car up to highway speeds, just expect to be in the same league as a minivan. The car is simply underpowered, even with the manual transmission.
