2021 Audi Q5 Plug-in Hybrid review

1. Plenty of space throughout 

For a small SUV, you get decent space inside. When it comes to cargo space, you’ll get 25.8 cu-ft in the trunk but can fold the rear seats to open that up to 54 cu-ft. The cabin is spacious and minimal, giving you enough room to store essentials such as water bottles and snacks. In the front, legroom is good with 40.9 inches but the back is also suitable for adults with 38 inches of legroom. 

2. Deluxe technology features 

Advanced driver aids such as blind spot monitoring are handy for highway driving and front and rear parking sensors make it easier to park in tricky spots. There’s also a convenience package that adds nice features such as a heated steering wheel and driver’s seat memory function. Jump up to the Premium Plus if you want adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera. Finally, look out for the Prestige trim to take luxury to the next level with ventilated front seats, automated parking assist, and a premium sound system. 

3. Balanced hybrid power 

The hybrid powertrain combines an electric motor with a gas engine for a total of 362 horsepower. This makes it a lot of fun to drive but also means you get an EPA-estimated 50 MPGe combined. For the gas engine alone, you’ll get 27 mpg combined, which is nothing to be sniffed at.

As this is a plug-in hybrid, you’ll also get some all-electric range: an EPA-estimated 19 miles when fully charged. 

4. Ready for any journey 

The 2021 Q5 was given a facelift for this model year but it remains a comfortable and quiet companion for any journey. Whether you’re hitting the highway for a weekend getaway or you’re traveling back from a family vacation, everyone will appreciate how little road and wind noise enters the cabin, even at highway speeds.  

5. Standard all-wheel drive 

For extra grip on rainy days or when you want to push along some fun country roads, the standard quattro all-wheel drive elevates the Q5. It gives you extra confidence during your journey, no matter what the weather throws at you. You also have the option to do some light off-roading, which opens up opportunities for getting to the lake or taking that camping trip with your buddies.
