In 2008, Dodge reintroduced the Challenger to its lineup, captivating the market with its retro-styled two-door design and powerful HEMI® V8 under the hood. It quickly became a sensation. Over the years, the car's appearance has remained essentially unchanged, but Dodge has successfully maintained interest in this timeless classic with interior and tech updates and by consistently enhancing its performance with a variety of high-output V8 engines that, in some cases, deliver in excess of 800 horsepower. The Challenger remains primarily unchanged for the 2022 model year, but a new Jailbreak package for the SRT® Hellcat Redeye Widebody adds 10 extra horsepower and lots of appearance options. Dodge offers the Challenger in a variety of trims with a range of performance levels that start with the 303-hp SXT and top out at the dragstrip-ready SRT Super Stock that boasts 807 hp and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.25 seconds. Most Challengers are rear-wheel-drive, but all-wheel drive is available for the V6-powered Challenger SXT and GT.

Comfort: Despite its performance-oriented mission, the Challenger pleasantly surprises with its spacious and comfortable interior. The front seats are not only stylish but also offer excellent support for the driver and passenger. Though the rear seat may feel slightly cramped, it beats the competition with seating for three that is quite usable for adult-sized passengers. The well-arranged controls ensure user-friendly operation, and ample storage is available for front-seat passengers, enhancing the cabin's overall convenience and functionality. The Challenger boasts more than 16 cubic feet of trunk space, among the best in the class.
Performance: Dodge caters to a diverse range of consumers with a wide selection of performance levels. Even the Challenger's base-level motor puts out more than 300 horsepower, and the excitement reaches new heights with the HEMI-powered Scat Pack and higher-level Hellcats that boast an impressive 700+ horsepower. While these cars are not exactly sports cars, handling is still good, with strong brakes and quick steering, and their exceptional levels of power make for an exhilarating drive.
Technology: Dodge's Uconnect® system stands out as one of the best infotainment systems available. The dashboard incorporates an available 8.4-inch touchscreen display featuring a bright and easily readable screen. Standard Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® connectivity further enhance the user experience. The voice interface functions smoothly, adding to the system's convenience. Among our favorite features are the Performance Pages, which let the driver measure acceleration, braking, and cornering.
Fuel economy: As is commonly observed, high performance often comes with a trade-off in fuel economy. According to the EPA, the V6-powered Challenger SXT manages a respectable 23 mpg combined. However, the supercharged HEMI V8 engine achieves just 15 mpg combined with a 13 mpg rating for city driving.
