The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a crossover SUV with seating for five people in two rows. Its body styling is sporty with a sloped coupe-profile roofline. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that delivers peppy performance, but fuel economy lags behind competing models. Eclipse Cross is available in six trim levels, and all-wheel drive has been standard on all trims since the 2024 model year. Prior to that, all-wheel drive was standard on the highest trims but was optional or not available on lower-trim models.

2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

The Eclipse Cross was named after the popular Mitsubishi Eclipse sport coupe, but apart from the name, there's no connection to the old Eclipse. This is a fully modern compact crossover SUV. Competitors include industry heavyweights such as the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross, as well as the Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, and Kia Seltos.

The Eclipse Cross often beats competitors on price, but its driving dynamics lack sophistication. That said, its small size makes it nimble in urban environments, and the long list of standard features is commendable. With its gas-fueled 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, the Eclipse Cross returns an EPA-estimated 26 mpg in combined city/highway driving.

Reviewers suggest the mid-level SE trim as the best value for your money in the Eclipse Cross line.
