Porsche is sticking to its proven formula with the 2021 Cayenne, adding more models to the lineup to offer customers every conceivable type of Cayenne experience, whether in the conventional SUV shape or as the more stylish Cayenne Coupe. For 2021 that means adding the Cayenne GTS, a more purposeful, driver-focused model with a bounty of standard equipment that cherry-picks desirable options like an enhanced suspension, sportier seats, and a V8 engine.
The rest of the Cayenne range remains much the same as it has since its 2019 introduction, so there’s now a base, E-Hybrid, S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S E-Hybrid. The highest performance model, surprisingly, is the plug-in hybrid, the Turbo S E-Hybrid, which uses an electric motor and turbocharged V8 to offer 670 hp. The usual compromises apply, so you won’t find as much space in any Cayenne as you might in a BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, or Range Rover Sport, but none of these rivals offer the driver-focused appeal of Porsche’s impressive SUV.
The 2021 Porsche Cayenne's impressive 10-speaker sound system is what you'd expect from this premium brand. If you're a committed audiophile, however, Porsche has two available options that you'll want to look out for. A 14-speaker Bose® audio system (including a subwoofer) is an option for the base, S, and GTS trims, and comes standard on the Turbo trim. For the ultimate in crystal-clear audio, the 21-speaker Burmester® 3D sound system is an option for all trims with 21 individually controlled speakers and Auro 3D® technology.
Porsche is known for its sports cars, and the 2021 Porsche Cayenne SUV is no exception with a choice of five engine options, including two hybrid powertrains. In fact, it's the Turbo S e-Hybrid that tops out these powerful drivetrains, combining a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 gasoline engine with a plug-in hybrid electric motor to deliver 670 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. Great news if you're looking for a blend of power, technology, and torque.
The deluxe interior of a Porsche Cayenne doesn't disappoint. Standard features such as four-way headrests and four USB ports spoil passengers, whichever trim you decide on. What makes a Porsche feel so personal, though, are the available extras that make you feel at home as soon as you slip into your car at the end of your workday. If you love having information immediately available, there's a head-up display so you never have to take your eyes off the road. The option of heated, massaging, or ventilated front seating means the driver and front passenger have every reason to love a Cayenne journey, no matter the conditions or distance.
An exhilarating Cayenne SUV with a motorsport feel? Yes, please. The mid-range GTS model is new for 2021 and promises to be one for thrill-seekers. Driven by a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, and fitted with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) to enhance terrain dynamics and stability, this is a stand-alone trim that was made to stand out. The GTS sport design exterior package features 21-inch satin black RS Spyder alloy wheels, while front-row passengers can enjoy leather sports seats with center panel Race-Tex upholstery.
Making a statement but with no need to shout, the always-elite 2021 Porsche Cayenne has 12 exterior paint finishes to choose from including a new special edition, Carmine Red. Also available is a selection of metallic finishes that dazzle and glow, bringing a sense of excitement to some otherwise classy but low-key hues. The soft plush finishing and leather upholstery of the 2021 Cayenne interior is a deluxe affair, with Bordeaux Red leather as an available add-on option to consider when you're shopping.
