The 2020 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid is a classic SUV in every sense: wide stance, no-nonsense design, 20-inch wheels, and a spacious interior. This SUV comes in two trims, Base and Advance, with notable differences between them. The Base comes with leatherette seats, front seat heaters, and driver assist features. The Advance builds on the entry-level trim by adding a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats for the driver and all passengers, and a head-up display. Leather seating is an additional option.
With a combined horsepower of 321, the 2020 MDX Sport Hybrid is an athletic performance SUV. The hybrid system adds a boost by channeling torque through the twin rear electric motors to provide near-instantaneous acceleration, going from zero-to-60 in six seconds. Only the rear twin electric motors operate with a light touch on the gas pedal. More aggressive acceleration, meanwhile, prompts the gasoline engine and all three electric motors to kick in.
The 2020 MDX Sport Hybrid offers up to 90.9 cu-ft of cargo capacity, depending on seat configurations (the second row can do a 60/40 split, and the third row can be folded 50/50 or go completely flat). This flexibility makes it a great choice for families and small business owners who transport merchandise and equipment. Like the other 2020 MDX trims, the Sport Hybrid also carries a hidden cargo storage compartment with a smart lid, helping you keep certain items out of sight.
This is not a plug-in hybrid. Instead, the 2020 MDX Sport Hybrid captures kinetic energy while braking, coasting, and cornering to recharge the vehicle's lithium-ion battery, and uses that energy to pack a powerful punch on acceleration and performance. The EPA-estimated combined fuel economy clocks in at 27 mpg from the hybrid powertrain, making it a practical choice.
The torque (289 lb-ft), power, 20-inch wheels, and standard Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) make the 2020 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid a great choice if you regularly drive in cold weather, particularly if you're living in suburban or rural locales where snow drifts can pile up. The SH-AWD uses what Acura describes as an "innovative torque-vectoring system" that distributes power to the wheels that need it the most. This results in solid performance in less-than-ideal weather and road conditions.
The 2020 MDX offers a number of driver assist and comfort features geared toward delivering a smooth, considerate drive. The Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ ensure smartphone compatibility, and the infotainment system also comes with Bluetooth® integration. It has power mirrors, seats, locks, windows, and hatch. Plus, it comes with a blind spot monitor, rearview camera, lane departure warning, rear defroster, and side and overhead airbags, together delivering peace of mind.
