Lowkey luxury in a spacious sedan

There’s a lot to be said for being subtle and flying under the radar. The 2014 Acura TL is fairly understated on the outside, but step inside the spacious cabin and you’ll find plenty of legroom, a whole host of features and equipment, and engine options that balance everyday versatility and smooth, authoritative performance. For a midsize luxury sedan that’s comfortable and elegant, the 2014 Acura TL deserves your attention.

5 reasons to buy the 2014 Acura TL

1. Incredibly spacious cabin

If you’re in the market for a midsize sedan, particularly a luxury one, comfort is most likely a high priority for you. Well, the Acura TL delivers. Inside, there’s seating for up to five passengers with generous legroom - 42.5 inches in the front and 36.2 inches in the rear. And while your passengers are relaxing into their seats, there are plenty of comfort features as standard for them to enjoy too, like dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and a sunroof.

2. Packed feature list with lots of standard equipment

The 2014 Acura TL has just two trim levels, dictated by engine choice. This means that a significant amount of features come as standard. You'll get heated front seats with power lumbar adjustment, an eight-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth® phone and audio connectivity. There are also optional packages to look out for including the Technology package, which adds a navigation system, GPS-linked adaptive climate control, and perforated leather upholstery. There's also the Advance package, which adds larger wheels alongside heated and ventilated front seats.

3. Two engines ideal for day-to-day cruising

The 2014 Acura TL can be found with one of two engine options, both of which do a great job of balancing everyday versatility with punchy power. For starters, the standard 3.5L V6 engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, and puts out 280 horsepower, while also achieving an EPA-estimated 29 mpg on the highway.

TL SH-AWD models get an enhanced 3.7L V6 engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission - a manual option is available. This engine combination produces 305 horsepower all while still managing to achieve an EPA-estimated 26 mpg on the highway.

4. Sporty handling on SH-AWD models

Alongside the 3.7L V6 engine, the SH-AWD models offer other performance-orientated features to sharpen up the handling and put a smile on your face. Chief amongst these are sports-tuned steering and suspension and the Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system. Not only does this all-wheel-drive system enhance grip in the corners, but also includes a torque vectoring system to dynamically distribute power between the wheels as needed. This gives exceptional grip for cornering and accelerating out of the turns.

5. Numerous tech features across the lineup

Across the generous feature list on the 2014 TL is a particular focus on tech equipment, both in terms of in-car entertainment and driver convenience. The previously mentioned Technology package lives up to its name by including voice commands and an upgraded ten-speaker ELS® premium surround-sound system. Models equipped with the Advance package also include a blind-spot monitoring system, helping you keep an eye out for objects in the car’s natural blind spots.
