2022 Audi A6 luxury sedan features updated technology

The 2022 Audi A6 midsize is a refined and elegantly appointed rival to premium midsize luxury sedans like the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Lexus ES, and Cadillac CT5. Available in three trim levels — Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige — the A6 can be ordered with its base 261-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or optional 335-hp 3.0-liter turbo V6. Each is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

For the 2022 model year the A6 gains more tech touches, including a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument display cluster. Rear side airbags are now standard, and, for an added visual kick, the Black Optic appearance package (consisting of black exterior trim pieces) is available on base models with the turbo four-cylinder powertrain.

Luxury-car shoppers will appreciate the A6 doesn’t need to be loaded with expensive options — though there are plenty to choose from. Standard features include leather seating, three-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, heated front seats, satellite radio, and panoramic sunroof.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Audi A6

What We Like

Ride comfort: In terms of how it drives, the A6 leans more toward the luxury side of the premium sedan spectrum, versus the sportier feel found in some rivals. That’s not a bad thing. The A6 feels sure-footed and agile, and the ride is ideal for taking the stress out of long road trips.

Cabin quality: The interior of the A6 is one of its top selling points. There’s plenty of space in the first or second row, and the quality of materials used throughout the cabin is exemplary.

Technology: With its dual-screen infotainment and climate control system, not to mention the newly standard digital instrument cluster, the A6 cabin has a modern and high-tech look to it.

What Needs Improvement

Storage and cargo: As good as it is, the A6 has only so-so storage space. The 13.7-cubic-foot trunk trails many of its competitors, and interior storage for small items is also limited. At least the trunk is usefully shaped for long items, and the low liftover makes loading heavy items relatively easy.
