This model year, the 2017 Cadillac ATS is making a convincing case as a daily driver, since it received a few updates that make it an even better coupe and sedan. Trim levels received updates for the 2017 model year, coalesing into three simpler and higher-feature trims; Standard, Luxury, and Premium Luxury. If chrome isn’t your style, look for the Carbon Black sport package which replaces all the bling with gloss black, and optionally Recaro® bucket seats. Only the two most powerful engine options remain, the turbo 2.0L and 3.6L V6, still with auto or manual. Any way you spice it, the ATS is a fun and luxurious car worthy of your consideration.
The 2017 Cadillac ATS-V is the high-performance variant of the ATS, offering exhilarating performance and track-ready performance, in coupe or sedan form. Powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine that’s been hitting the gym, paired with a performance-tuned chassis and magnetic ride control suspension, the ATS-V delivers blistering acceleration and racecar handling. The exterior features 18-inch alloy wheels and optional aggressive aerodynamic enhancements. Inside, the cabin is driver-focused with standard driver assistance features and optional Recaro performance bucket seats.
Regardless of trim and options packages, the 2017 Cadillac ATS has a quiet and comfortable interior, with the perfect mix of luxury and tech. Getting into the driver’s seat, you’ll instantly notice the high-comfort plush seats and excellent outward visibility. On the road, the interior’s sound-dampening techniques include active noise cancellation. The standard leather seats and large HD eight-inch touchscreen are upscale touches, while optional real-wood trim and heads-up display are peak premium interior features.
Standard, the base trim, has standard features like dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera, and Cadillac's CUE infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen. Luxury adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and additional driver assistance features. Premium Luxury adds a sunroof, navigation system, premium 12-speaker audio system, and even more driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control.
Dirvers, start your smiles. The ATS has agility and handling cooked into the chassis and suspension, allowing sharp turns, flat cornering, and wide smiles on every drive. With a choice of powerful engines, the ATS makes short work of on-ramps and never sweats hills. Optional AWD makes it even better in corners and faster off-the-line no matter the weather conditions. Despite all the emphasis on fun and sport-tuning, the ATS is also a comfortable and sophisticated ride.
If you have a teenage driver, or will soon, check out the 2017 ATS for its standard Teen Driver system. Part of the standard CUE infotainment system, this clever tech limits audio volume, can limit top speed, and reports on how your teen is doing behind the wheel. Each trim level adds more tech, with Luxury gaining blind spot alert, intelligent high beams, and rain-sensing wipers, while Premium Luxury gets the standard Driver Awareness package, a complete suite of each driver assistance features.
