The 2018 Cadillac CT6 aims to challenge luxury giants like BMW and Mercedes-Benz with a combination of value and distinct styling. Its impressive array of tech features, especially on upper-tier models, makes the CT6 a solid choice for those looking to get a little more for their money.
Interior quality is impressive and the CT6 is a very roomy sedan. Legroom is excellent for backseat passengers and headroom is not an issue, even for taller drivers. The driver's seat is comfortable and can be adjusted forward and backward. Getting in and out of the car is also easy.
But some of the value-based compromises the CT6 makes don't work out. The standard four-cylinder engine is lifted from the midsize CTS, and the CT6 is worse off for it. The twin-turbo V6 engine, available on higher trim levels, is paired with a nine-speed transmission and makes solid power. A V8 is not available on the CT6, unlike many of its rivals.
Tech: The infotainment system is easy to use and the 10-inch touchscreen looks great. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard and there are plenty of spots to plug in your device. Many driver aids are available, including Super Cruise, which offers some hands-free driving.
Interior: Premium materials fill the CT6, which is plenty roomy, whether you're behind the wheel or in the backseat. Headroom isn't a problem for taller passengers and the driver's seat offers just about enough adjustment.
Driving: When equipped with the twin-turbo V6, the CT6 is a pleasure to drive. The nine-speed transmission provides smooth gear changes while accelerating and the handling of the CT6 might make you forget you're driving a full-size sedan.
Ride Comfort: The CT6 doesn't provide the same smooth, comfortable ride as many of its rivals thanks in part to a stiff suspension. Traveling over bumps leads to a harsh, at times jittery ride that clashes with Cadillac's lofty aims.
