The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is the final model year of this sedan in its hybrid format. It came with a 1.8L four-cylinder engine along with an electric motor, which is good for a combined 182 horsepower and a beefy 277 lb-ft of torque. The Hybrid model slots into the rest of the Malibu lineup just below the top-spec (non-hybrid) Premier trim.
A hybrid powertrain delivers the best of both worlds — a gas engine mated with an electric motor. This setup means the 2019 Malibu Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 49 mpg city and 43 mpg highway for a combined 46 mpg.
Another great part of the 2019 Malibu Hybrid is the position it fills in the overall Malibu lineup. Aside from the gas-powered Premier trim, the Hybrid is one of the highest-spec trim levels available for the 2019 model year. Chevrolet made sure that hybrid buyers are well taken care of with standard features like LED external lighting, remote start (when equipped with OnStar® functionality), heated mirrors, heated seats, and an eight-inch color display.
Your next car needs space for friends and family, and the 2019 Malibu Hybrid delivers. You'll find 13 cu-ft of cargo space in the trunk that should make short work of your next trip to the store and the Hybrid also has a generous passenger space. You'll get seating for five adults and an impressive 38.1 inches of rear legroom.
The Hybrid trim has a host of optional packages for you to keep an eye out for. There's the Leather Package, for example, which includes leather upholstery, plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Meanwhile, the Driver Confidence package offers great driver aids like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Upgrade to the Driver Confidence II package and you'll find additional tech like automatic high beams, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision alert.
For starters, you get a standard eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity, which is pretty great. The Malibu Hybrid also comes with a host of OnStar services and available Wi-Fi (part of the OnStar system).
