The 2023 Hyundai Venue is a compact crossover added to the brand’s lineup in 2020. Currently the lowest-priced model Hyundai offers, the Venue is one of a growing number of front-wheel-drive-only small crossovers on the U.S. market. The Venue has remained primarily unchanged since it was launched. For the 2023 model year, this small crossover gets some minor changes in feature availability, but overall the Venue remains the same as the previous year. Hyundai offers the Venue in three trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited. All versions of the Venue are powered by a fuel-efficient 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine putting out a meager 121 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It may be inexpensive, but the Venue has a long list of standard convenience and driver-assist features, helping it compete against models like the Kia Soul, Nissan Kicks, and Toyota C-HR.
Interior: It may be small on the outside, but the Venue has a reasonable level of passenger space inside. Front seats offer good support with nice cushioning, and rear seats are tight but still deliver enough room so that adults aren't uncomfortable for shorter trips. The cargo space isn’t huge but has enough space for daily use, and the adjustable load floor and stowable cargo cover add to the vehicle’s versatility.
Technology: All Venues come standard with an eight-inch touchscreen display with an easy-to-use infotainment system. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard and feature wireless integration. Dual USB ports can be found up front, with the option of two more in the rear seat on the top-level Limited trim.
Value: For its price, the Venue delivers an impressive level of standard equipment. Even the base-level SE gets automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane keeping assistance standard. Additional standard features like alloy wheels, Bluetooth® connectivity, and a four-speaker audio system help to make the Venue an excellent value.
Performance: As a low-priced crossover, the Venue would never be expected to be powerful and quick, which is good because it isn’t. With a small four-cylinder engine under the hood, the Venue has adequate power for getting around town, but allow some time to reach highway speeds.
