With Jeep updating its line of Cherokees, the 2022 Grand Cherokee WK is last year's model with a new name. This is a testament to its well-engineered endurance. Offered in two trims (Laredo and Limited), the 2022 Grand Cherokee WK comes with a single V6 engine with 290 horsepower, four color options, as well as either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive capability. With fewer options on a well-worn fourth-generation model (first introduced in 2011), you can trust what you're getting with the Grand Cherokee WK: A midsize SUV with seating for five and rugged handling for off-road adventures.
On the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, all trims come with the singular 3.6L 290-horsepower V6 engine. That powertrain is fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission that can handle 260 lb-ft, enough power to tow an estimated 6,200 lbs, when properly equipped (front and rear hitches are available upgrades on select trims).
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK can be found with either 2WD or 4WD. The latter comes in two varieties: the Quadra-Trac I system (offered on the Laredo trim) or the even more sophisticated Quadra-Trac II (offered on the Limited trim), which is notable for its two-speed transfer technology to help you manage steep climbs and descents.
Technically speaking, there are only two trim options available on the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK—Laredo and Limited. But if you look a little closer, Jeep has the Laredo trim itself available in two varieties—Laredo X and Laredo E. The differences come down to the details. Consider the Limited the base model, which arrives standard with many interior perks, including a rear defroster, front seat heaters, cruise control, and leather upholstery throughout the cabin. The Laredo X comes with all of Limited, along with leather and suede seating and Bluetooth® connectivity. And then at the top of the line, the Laredo E opts for cloth seats.
With seating for five, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK arrives with the room you expect on a midsized SUV. Backseat passengers will appreciate the 38.6 inches of legroom to stretch out into. There's also 36.3 cu-ft of cargo space (68.3 cu-ft with the rear seats folded), meaning everything you need will fit — no Tetris-like contortions necessary.
Considering this is a revamped older model, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK comes fitted with a strong array of interior and exterior technology. There's an 8.4-inch touchscreen center console, with Apple Carplay®, Andriod Auto™, SiriusXM® availability, and Bluetooth® connectivity. Plus, there's available Wi-Fi hotspot access, two USB ports up front, and a six-speaker immersive stereo system.
