An engaging SUV for everyday adventures

Stepping up to an SUV doesn't have to be a big leap. Nor do you have to choose between a city-styled SUV and one that can navigate you through the wildest of terrains. In fact, it's hard to think of a reason why you wouldn't love the 2022 Jeep Renegade, a subcompact SUV that oozes style and rugged capability. The Jeep brand knows how to turn heads and the 2022 Renegade is no exception. The classic Jeep grille is instantly recognizable, while the boxy body and squared-off doors are sporty in style. Each 2022 Renegade trim level has its own exterior accents, from the Sport trim's ridged roof to the optional dual-pane panoramic roof that comes in a package option for higher trims.

Seating five across two rows, the 2022 Renegade treats passengers well. Comfortable seating with panoramic visibility and easy-to-use LATCH fixtures for young families are both standard features that matter. From the Latitude trim and above, rear-row USB ports and tinted windows keep your young teens or friends always connected and cool.

The Renegade ensures driving can be fun wherever you want to go, and whatever the conditions. The trim lineup and special editions of the 2022 Renegade can be counted on to deliver stylish everyday drivability and powertrain performance capability.

While we currently do not have many 2022 Jeep Renegades on our lots, we look forward to selling more in the future. If you love the 2022 model, you should also consider prior/other model years of the Jeep Renegade with similar features.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Jeep Renegade

1. Convienent smaller size

As the smallest SUV in the Jeep lineup, the Renegade is an excellent choice for rugged capability in a more compact package. Narrow trails and tight parking spots are no problem for the 2022 Renegade. At 166.6 inches long and 73.9 inches wide (without mirrors), these are dimensions that give you options that larger SUVs cannot. And if it's your first SUV, even better. Switching up to the Renegade makes the transition smoother.

2. The Trailhawk trim

Looking for adventure? If you love the challenge of navigating your way through extreme environments, the 2022 Renegade Trailhawk trim is designed especially for you. Not only does it get some trim-exclusive styling that flags you up as an adventurer at heart, it comes equipped with underbody skid plates, a raised suspension, and 4x4 capabilities for even the most challenging of environments, including rocky hill climbs and water fording.

3. Great tech set-up

It's good to know the 2022 Renegade has the latest tech features. An 8.4-inch color touchscreen display is your gateway to a plethora of audio, navigation, and connectivity features. Want to access your road trip playlist? Smartphone integration comes via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto compatibility. Traveling somewhere new? GPS navigation and Bluetooth® voice command are both standard features. You can also choose to unlock available SiriusXM® functionality to gain more radio station options, live traffic updates, remote start capability, and more.

4. Two fun limited editions

The 2022 Renegade has two special edition models both based on the well-equipped Latitude trim. The Renegade (Red) edition is part of a Jeep brand charitable partnership, donating funds for the fight against global health emergencies. Highlights include red badging, bezels, and interior stitching accents, plus 19-inch granite-painted aluminum wheels.

The Altitude Edition is a style-led choice. Aluminum wheels, headliner, exterior mirrors, and grille rings all in gloss black set the tone. Once inside, you'll enjoy deluxe cloth high-back front bucket seats and further gloss black accent finishes.

5. Solid towing capacity

The 2022 Renegade has the chops to tow a small boat, bike trailer, or mini camper on lengthy road trips or sporting weekends away. The Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk trim models are all equipped with standard AWD and the turbocharged 1.3L engine, which makes them capable of towing up to an estimated 2,000 lbs when properly equipped.

While other SUVs offer higher poundage, the Renegade has more than enough to keep you on the move and set up for biking, boating, or camping under the stars.

Interior details

The 2022 Jeep Renegade seats five people. Cloth upholstery is standard for the base-level Sport trim, with upgraded and premium cloth options available via packages or on higher trims, and leather upholstery as standard on the Limited trim. Surfaces are robust and smooth to the touch.

Entry and exit are made easy. The Renegade has wide-opening square-shaped doors, and the seats are positioned in a way to make climbing in and out comfortable for all ages. The interior is roomy with impressive visibility and plenty of headroom for taller passengers thanks to its high roof height (41.1 inches in the front and 40.5 to the rear, without the optional sunroof). The front legroom is a generous 41.2 inches, with the rear legroom almost equally accommodating, at 35.1 inches.

Storage is plentiful for the items you want to keep close to hand, including a bin in the front row that's perfect for storing sunglasses and phones. Door cubbies can handle your water bottles, while both rows have cup holders too.

Behind the second row is 18.5 cu-ft of cargo space, expanding to 50.8 cu-ft with the seats folded. Loading cargo is easy too; the floor is low for entry and its boxy shape makes it great for hauling storage boxes and appliances.

Child seat details

The Jeep Renegade has two complete sets of LATCH connectors (two lower anchors and an upper tether) in the second-row outboard seats and an additional upper tether for the second-row middle seat. Lower anchors are clearly labeled and easy to reach—your seat hooks should slot in without any fuss or push-back.

Depending on the seat models, you can fit up to three seats (including boosters) in the Renegades second-row. All seat types are accommodated; however, you may find that rear-facing child seats could impact the legroom of front-row passengers.

Performance

All 2022 Renegade models are powered by a 177-hp, turbocharged 1.3L four-cylinder engine that pairs to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The base trim Sport is equipped with standard front-wheel drive, while the Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk trims all have AWD. The Trailhawk trim's additional 4x4 capabilities make light work of rocky trails and descents.

The Sport trim, when equipped with its standard FWD (AWD is optional), achieves an EPA-estimated 27 mpg combined.

The Latitude and Limited trims (both with AWD) can offer an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined, while the Trailhawk manages an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined.
When properly equipped, the Jeep Renegade with AWD and the 1.3L engine can haul up to 2,000 lbs.

Year comparisons

2015-Present Jeep Renegade (first generation)

The Jeep Renegade makes its debut in 2015, a five-seat subcompact SUV with style and substance in equal measure. Following two further years with no significant changes (2016-2017), the 2018 Renegade gains two notable changes: rearview camera functionality becomes standard, while Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration is an available optional feature.

Major changes come into play for the 2019 Renegade; the manual transmission is discontinued, while an exterior design refresh and a new turbocharged engine option enhance the overall offering. For 2020, more driver assistance features are made available, while the 2021 models gain additional trims that celebrate Jeep brand heritage, and more infotainment technology becomes standard.

The 2022 Renegade is now powered by just one engine option, the turbocharged 1.3L, and all trims gain a larger touchscreen of 8.4-inches. No major changes are predicted for the 2023 models.
