The 2024 Kia Seltos is an extra-small crossover SUV that delivers impressive storage given its small stature. The Seltos is the smaller sibling to the Kia Sportage and is similar in size to the Chevy Trailblazer, Mazda CX-30, and Toyota Corolla Cross. So, how does the Seltos stand out among a crowded pack of small crossovers?
Its practicality is its best feature. With the rear seats folded down, you can fit 68.2 cubic feet of stuff in the back of the SUV. That's a full 7 cubic feet more than what you can fit in the Corolla Cross with its seats folded down. There's also loads of interior storage options and cupholders, making this a great pick for a small family.
However, the Seltos isn't the most comfortable SUV you can buy and it's not exactly fun to drive. You're probably not shopping for a small SUV for its performance, but keep in mind that the Seltos is slow to accelerate, which can make it a bit of a chore to merge onto crowded freeways. The EPA estimates the Seltos will get 26 mpg in combined driving, which is also not very impressive. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Fuel economy may vary for reasons like driving conditions and vehicle history. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See fueleconomy.gov.
Lots of storage: You can fit a lot into the back of the Seltos, even when the back seats are up. There's 26.2 cubic feet of storage with the seats up and you can get up to 68.2 cubic feet with the seats folded down. The rear of the vehicle has a wide opening, making it easy to load larger items.
Spacious interior: Both the front and rear seats are comfortable for most passengers. If you're taller than 6-foot-2, you may feel cramped in the back seat. The doors open quite wide, making it easy to get in and out of the vehicle. That also makes it a bit easier to load a child seat into the back row.
Impressive tech: The 10.25-inch touchscreen, which comes on all but the base LX trim, is sharp and easy to use. Driver aids like lane-keeping assistance and forward-collision warning come standard on all trims. Adaptive cruise control is offered as an available feature, so be sure to check that the model you're looking at has it installed.
