Looking for a compact crossover SUV that’s ideal for a busy daily lifestyle, while also being a great road trip companion? The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport should be right atop your shopping list. For daily driving, you get a sizable interior, adorned with comfort features and space for passengers and cargo. Then when you want to go on an adventure, a stout turbocharged engine and numerous high-tech off-road parts allows you to take the road less travelled in style.
The 2015 Discovery Sport is classified as a compact SUV, but there’s nothing compact at all about the capacious interior. There’s seating for five passengers as standard, with 42 inches of front seat legroom and 37.3 inches of rear seat legroom, and creature comforts like dual-zone automatic climate control and partial leather upholstery as standard. If you require seven seats, an optional third-row seat can be equipped to increase capacity.
The theme of spaciousness continues into the trunk. Behind the rear seats is 32 cu-ft of cargo volume as standard, enough to swallow up everyone’s belongings and the weekly groceries with plenty of space to spare. Additionally, a power liftgate is standard on HSE trims upwards, making loading and unloading easier. For transporting large or longer items, the rear seats are 60/40 split-folding, increasing cargo capacity to 66.9 cu-ft.
You’ll find just one engine choice under the hood of the 2015 Discovery Sport, but it’s one that is ideally balanced for everyday life. It’s a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder, producing a stout 240 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. That’s ideal power for zipping around town and cruising the highway, all while being able to achieve an EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined, keeping trips to the pumps at a minimum.
There’s a lot to like about the 2015 Discovery Sport’s lengthy feature list, particularly how many of those features are included as standard. Alongside the aforementioned comfort features, equipment you’ll find on base SE trims include rear parking sensors, Bluetooth® connectivity, an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a ten-speaker sound system. SE models can also be had with several option packages, like the Climate Comfort package with heated seats, or the Driver Assist Plus package with various driver convenience technologies.
For when adventure comes calling, turn off the beaten track and have fun tackling the rough stuff with the 2015 Discovery Sport’s suite of off-road tech and features. All-wheel-drive is standard on all models, as is the Terrain Response® system which helps you navigate various different surfaces like sand, mud, and snow. Hill descent control and hill start assist are also included as standard.
