5 reasons to buy the 2021 Land Rover Discovery

1. Capable off-roader

If a Land Rover is on your shopping list, chances are you're the adventurous type and are looking for something that can handle different types of terrain. Fortunately, the 2021 Land Rover Discovery fits the bill. Unsurprisingly it features AWD and hill descent control across each trim, and the top trim – the R-Dynamic HSE (specifically P360 R-Dynamic S or P360 R-Dynamic HSE) – has the option of Terrain Progress Control, Terrain Response 2, and configurable terrain response. So if you're after maximum off-road capability, look out for models with these features. The 2021 Land Rover Discovery also has a maximum ground clearance of 11.1 inches, ensuring you can make your way over rocky tracks and rough trails with ease. Either of the two powerful engine options make rumbling through the wilderness a breeze.

2. Towing capacity

Another aspect of having a practical car is how well it can tow. Whether you're moving house and tugging along your worldly possessions, transporting a horse box, or pulling a broken-down vehicle or even a small boat, you need to know how much a vehicle can tackle. For the 2021 Land Rover Discovery, when properly equipped, the top weight it can tow is an estimated 8,200 lbs (with the more powerful, 355-hp turbocharged 3.0L engine).

This provides serious peace of mind and versatility.

3. Intuitive infotainment system

The 2021 Land Rover Discovery's infotainment system is a big step up from its previous incarnation. The base model includes a large, 11.4-inch touchscreen with the Pivi Pro infotainment system, which has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay® connectivity and pleasant haptic feedback. It features navigation, satellite radio, and HD Radio®, all flowing through eight speakers, adding layers of enjoyment to your adventuring.

4. Updates for 2021

The 2021 Land Rover Discovery underwent something of a makeover for the 2021 model year, making the third row of seats standard, adding the new infotainment system, and freshening up the exterior. New bumpers and LED headlights brighten the look of the vehicle, giving it even more on-road presence. Plus, the list of trims was stripped down to just three – S, R-Dynamic S, and R-Dynamic HSE – with diesel options removed entirely. The 2021 Land Rover Discovery gives more variety across fewer trims, so your decision-making is more streamlined.

5. New engine types

Alongside scrapping some of the previous trim varieties, the 2021 Land Rover Discovery offers two totally new engine options – both plenty powerful. The base engine is a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 296 hp and provides more than enough potency for most drivers. However, the 3.0L engine that's an option for the two higher trims has six cylinders and performs with an impressive 355 hp, making acceleration, towing, and exploring the wilderness extra easy.
