2022 Lincoln Nautilus is an elegant and powerful five-passenger crossover SUV

The Lincoln Nautilus is a luxury five-passenger SUV that fits into the lineup between the entry-level Corsair and the larger three-row Aviator. With signature Lincoln styling and an elegant interior, the Nautilus stands out as one of the few American-brand luxury two-row SUVs. The Nautilus was refreshed for the 2021 model year and was mostly unchanged for 2022, available in a range of trim levels that tops out at the exclusive Black Series. The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus boasts a quiet, solid ride, as is expected of a Lincoln, with front seats that are comfortable and supportive featuring up to 22-way power adjustment. The rear seats offer good legroom, and while the available panoramic sunroof gives the cabin an airy feel, it slightly reduces headroom. The Nautilus is available with a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 putting out a plentiful 335 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful in its class. Combining Lincoln luxury with the utility of a five-passenger crossover, the Nautilus holds up well in the face of stiff competition.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus

What We Like

Technology: Lincoln upgraded the Nautilus to a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen display in 2021, which runs the latest version of the company’s SYNC® communication and infotainment system. The system is easy to navigate, with dedicated shortcuts to popular items like audio and navigation that remain constant at the bottom of the screen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay® connect wirelessly, integrating nicely into the display, which can be split to show maps and audio simultaneously.

Performance: When equipped with the optional 2.7-liter twin-turbo 335-horsepower V6 engine, the Nautilus is one of the most powerful vehicles in its class. Acceleration can seem a bit muted in Normal driving mode. Sport mode, however, improves the driving dynamics immensely and takes full advantage of the powerful engine, especially when a quick pass of a slower car is needed. The quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission makes the ride smooth and comfortable, and the Nautilus offers up decent handling.

Storage: The Nautilus also offers plenty of utility thanks to a large cargo area. A retractable cargo cover keeps items hidden from view, and rear seats can be folded flat via buttons in the cargo area to quickly and easily expand the space to 68.8 cubic feet. The cabin also features good storage with a nice-sized center compartment and ample space below the center console that can easily fit a large bag or purse.

What Needs Improvement

Fuel economy: The standard 2.0-liter engine and the optional high-performance turbocharged V6 have reasonable fuel economy estimates from the EPA – 22 mpg combined and 21 mpg combined,

respectively. However, those figures can drop quickly in real-world driving, especially when driving the turbocharged model with some enthusiasm. After a full round of testing, Edmunds achieved just over 14 mpg – not quite as reasonable.
