The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has been in the same generation since 2011, but it’s undergone multiple facelifts to get to the point that it’s at in 2021. This year features small changes, and the model remains a good choice. It’s an SUV with something for everyone.
1. Newly standardized features for 2021
Multiple features have been made standard for 2021. This means the base trim has more going for it than ever before. For 2021, forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning are now standard. It's also worth noting that the trim levels have been shaken up a little with the LE trim replacing the SP, while the Black Edition model has been removed from the lineup.
The LE trim is new for 2021 and builds on the previous two trims by adding heated front seats, scaling up the touchscreen to eight inches, and wrapping the steering wheel in leather. It also introduces better connectivity to the lineup, including Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity, and an additional USB port. This is a great choice if you're looking for a good range of features.
There’s nothing worse than an unnecessarily fiddly infotainment system to contend with when you have more important things to focus on. Fortunately, the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport’s system is easy to use. The base trim comes with a seven-inch touchscreen with bright graphics, simple menus, and a handful of physical buttons, making usability a breeze.
You expect a decent amount of space in an SUV, and the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport delivers. Passenger volume for the base trim is 97.5 cu-ft, and the large door openings in the front make getting in and out easy. There’s also 21.7 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seats and 49.5 cu-ft with those seats folded, which is plenty for anyone who's looking for an SUV.
There are six trim levels for the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, so if you have specific requirements, really consider what you’re looking for. The S base trim comes with many expected features like a USB port, Bluetooth® connectivity, and rain-sensing windshield wipers, while the ES gains LED fog lights. If you want more connectivity, the LE adds Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity and upgrades the seating from cloth to leather. The SE adds more driver aids, while the BE includes cool black and red accents. At the top-level, there's standard AWD and a more powerful 168 hp engine.
