Mitsubishi’s smallest SUV, the Outlander Sport, is approximately the same vehicle it was when it was released in 2011, but its regular refreshes keep it exciting. With lots of features, appealing trims, and its compact size, it remains a good choice if you're looking for a well-equipped runaround.
1. Infotainment system
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport boasts an extremely simple-to-use infotainment system. As standard, it comes with a seven-inch touchscreen, with bright menus that are straightforward to use. There are physical controls for the climate and sound settings, meaning you don’t have to dig for them via the infotainment system, and higher trims offer navigation alongside a slightly larger screen.
When you’re shopping for a subcompact SUV, you sign up for less space than you’d get with a full-size SUV. Despite that, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is pretty generous with its cargo space. Behind the rear seats, there’s 21.7 cu-ft of space, but with them folded, you get 49.5 cu-ft. For a compact SUV, that’s impressive and allows you to fill the vehicle up without worry.
There are seven available trims for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the first five have a 148-hp engine and the two top trims have a more powerful 168-hp engine. The base S trim comes with the standard seven-inch infotainment screen, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth® connectivity, and more. The ES adds fog lights, while the LE upgrades the touchscreen to eight inches and adds Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity to the lineup of features. Then there’s the SE and SE Special Edition, which add more driver aids, while the T and GT Special Edition include the more powerful engine, as well as more luxurious upholstery.
The lower trims are certainly basic when it comes to color options, but the two GT trims broaden your horizons. So if color is an important factor for you, keep an eye out for those versions. As well as expected black and white tones, the GT trims have the option of Octane Blue Metallic, Red Diamond, Oak Brown Metallic, and the very vibrant Orange Sunrise Metallic. If you like your car to stand out, keep an eye out for these options.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has a good number of driver aids as standard, which higher trims add to. As standard, it comes with forward collision warning, lane departure warning, rearview camera, and pedestrian detection. For added ease, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport also has rain-sensing windshield wipers and automatic high-beam headlights, meaning you have fewer things to think about when you’re trying to focus in the dark or adverse weather.
