2015 Scion iQ review

1. Standard engine is very thrifty 

A compact car only needs a compact engine, and the 1.3L four-cylinder motor you’ll find under the hood of every 2015 iQ fits that bill. Producing 94 horsepower and 89 lb-ft of torque, and paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission, it’s suited for diving in and out of busy traffic in town. Additionally, it can also achieve an EPA-estimated 37 mpg combined, keeping trips to the pumps at a minimum.

2. Stylish and cute exterior 

For such a small vehicle, the 2015 iQ certainly isn’t lacking in the style department. There’s something cute about such a tiny car, and the 2015 iQ takes full advantage of this with elegant and funky styling throughout. You can also take your pick from a choice of seven exterior colors, including bold and eye-catching tones like Pacific Blue Metallic, Black Currant Metallic, and Hot Lava.  

3. Clever interior design 

The 2015 iQ is the kind of compact car that feels bigger on the inside, thanks to an intelligently designed interior that makes good use of the available space. There’s seating for four inside the cabin, and front-seat passengers get an impressive 40.9 inches of legroom, with rear-seat occupants getting 28.6 inches of legroom. Additionally, fold the 50/50 split-rear seatbacks flat, and you get a useful 16.7 cu-ft of cargo volume.  

4. Great maneuverability  

Having such a small wheelbase and exterior dimensions gives the 2015 iQ excellent maneuverability. The wheelbase is just 78.7 inches long, combined with an overall width without mirrors of 66.1 inches. These compact dimensions and peppy engine mean the 2015 iQ is ideally suited for tackling tight urban environments and particularly cramped parking areas.   

5. Impressive standard feature selection 

The 2015 iQ is only available in one single trim level, meaning if there’s specific desirable equipment you are after on the lengthy feature list, chances are it’s standard equipment. These include creature comforts and in-car entertainment features such as air conditioning, Bluetooth^® connectivity, and a six-speaker Pioneer^® sound system with a 6.1-inch touchscreen interface. All models can also be found with various options, including interior ambient lighting, foglamps, TRD^® performance parts, and a premium BeSpoke^® sound system with smartphone app integration.
