Depending on which Tesla Model S you choose, you’ll get a good range for all your daily driving needs. If you’re looking for maximum mileage, keep an eye out for one of the 84-kWh models, which will get an EPA-estimated 265 miles with the single motor on a full charge.
The interior of the 2014 Tesla Model S feels like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. It’s dominated by a huge 17-inch touchscreen that houses all your settings and functionality. The screen is customizable so you can put your most-often accessed settings and buttons close to hand. Look out for the optional Tech package if you want to add an enhanced navigation system with turn-by-turn directions.
Even though this is a sleek sedan, it can still hold all your stuff in the trunk. You’ll find 26.3 cu-ft of space for luggage or shopping bags, but fold the rear seats down and open up 58 cu-ft of space. On top of this, there’s also a front trunk, or “frunk”, for a small amount of additional storage space — it’s a great place to store your charging cables to keep them out of the main cargo space.
You would be forgiven for thinking the 2014 Tesla Model S is just a standard all-electric sedan, but in reality, it’s also a performance machine. If you want to get the most from this car, look out for the P85D model, which is capable of zero to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. This drops the EPA-estimated range down to 245 miles on a full charge, but it’s worth it if you love a spirited drive.
There’s plenty of space in the 2014 Tesla Model S. Upfront you’ll get 42.7 inches of legroom while backseat passengers will get 35.4 inches of legroom. There’s also the option of small rear-facing jump seats in the back — which are suitable for small children — to turn the sedan into a seven-seater. This impacts cargo capacity but gives you the option to take more people with you on your next road trip.
