2017 Volkswagen GTI review

1. Balanced engine

The optional six-speed DSG automated manual transmission is known for its swift and smooth shifting at highway speeds, enhancing the sporty feel and driving pleasure. From the S trim base model up there are selectable drive modes, while the new-for-2017 Sport trim also gets an electronically controlled mechanical limited-slip differential, for added traction on spirited drives.

Highlights include an intuitive infotainment system, Bluetooth^® connectivity, ambient interior lighting, and a cooled glovebox. For trips that require some utility, this hatchback also offers plenty of cargo capability. The 2017 GTI has up to 22.8 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seats, expanding to 52.7 cu-ft with the 60/40-split rear row folded down.  

5. Top-end Autobahn trim 

Pick an Autobahn trim 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI and you’ll get adaptive suspension dampers for different road conditions and a larger rear stabilizer bar, for firmer handling on urban cornering and the swooshes of a mountain road. Practical interior additions for the Autobahn trim include system navigation and dual-zone automatic climate control. As you shop, you may see that some models will have the optional Driver Assistance package included too, which adds front and rear parking sensors, and an automated parallel parking system.
