5 reasons to buy the 2018 Volkswagen GTI

1. Impressive turbo engine

If you enjoy a spirited drive, you’ll appreciate the 2018 GTI powertrain. For this model year, the GTI's 2.0L four-cylinder engine delivers 220 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, only available in past model years via an engine re-tune and as part of an available performance package. For highway passes and twisting mountain roads, this extra burst of power will be a welcome asset.

2. Passenger comforts and conveniences

Your passengers will love the 2018 GTI cabin, thanks to its thoughtful comfort touches and convenient feature enhancements. From the base trim up, heated front seats and ambient interior lighting are included as standard. The SE trim adds even more, including a sunroof and a larger eight-inch touchscreen, with the available option of leather upholstery too. All door cubbies can stow a drink bottle, while the center console is ideal for your close-to-hand travel essentials.

3. Great tech

A refreshed tech offering for the 2018 GTI  includes a high-definition touchscreen interface and some useful standard features. For easy connectivity, there is Bluetooth® hands-free calling and audio, and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto. An eight-speaker audio system is standard for the S and SE trims while picking the Autobahn model bags you a premium Fender® audio system with an incorporated subwoofer.

4. Practical hatchback dimensions

This compact hatchback fits easily into parking spots downtown at just 168 inches long and 70.8 inches wide, yet manages to offer useful dimensions inside too. For errands that require picking up bags of stuff, you’ll get 22.8 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seats. There’s ample space for your crew to get comfortable on longer trips too, with 41.2 inches and 35.6 inches of legroom for the front and rear rows respectively.

5. Top-of-the-line Autobahn trim

As you shop the 2018 GTI model, look out for the top-of-the-line Autobahn trim, which improves handling and adds more driver assistance features. For enhanced traction, you’ll enjoy the benefit of the Autobahn trim’s adaptive suspension dampers. On highways, the automatic high beam feature and adaptive cruise control will make long journeys easier than ever.
