2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country review

1. Advanced driver-assist features 

Volvo’s technology is there to assist drivers wherever they may roam. The Cross Country can help you keep from drifting lanes and automatically apply the brakes in forward and reverse. Other standard features include cross-traffic collision mitigation and a blind-spot monitor. Pilot Assist, Volvo’s semi-autonomous driving system, combines adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist to help keep the car in the middle of the road and maintain a constant distance from the vehicle in front. 

2. Cross Country for a reason 

In addition to extra ground clearance, distinctive front styling, and fender flares, all Cross Country models feature all-wheel drive. When conditions warrant, you can select the standard off-road mode that works at speeds up to an estimated 25 mph. It prepares the car for traction on slippery surfaces and enables hill descent control to slow the vehicle on steep inclines. 

3. Alluring station wagon 

The distinctive, minimalist Scandinavian design, coupled with the slightly more aggressive features of the Cross Country, means the 2020 V60 Cross Country won’t be mistaken for any other car in the parking lot. Inside, there's 23.2 cu-ft of cargo space with all seats in place and a maximum of 50.9 cu ft with the rear seats folded and other smaller cubbyholes included. The folding rear center pass-through allows you to stow longer items like skis as you head for the slopes. 

4. Long list of standard features 

The 2020 V60 Cross Country comes in only one trim, which includes massaging front seats with ventilation and a high-end Bowers & Wilkins audio system. Other notable goodies on the standard features list include a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free power tailgate, a virtual instrument panel, leather upholstery, and heated and power-adjustable front seats. You also get a nine-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ connectivity, and a 10-speaker audio system. The transmission has selectable modes, including Dynamic mode for more lively throttle response, stiffer steering, and Eco mode, helping it achieve an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined with the AWD 2.4 L four-cylinder engine.

5. Optional upgrades 

Although the Cross Country only comes in one trim level, there are optional packages to upgrade the experience. The Advanced package has additional driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control. The Cross Country Pro package has bigger wheels and four-zone climate control. Supplement those features with the Luxury package that has upgraded seats and upholstery.
