Thinking of making the jump into luxury sedan ownership? The 2015 Acura TLX is a perfect entry-level choice for those looking for a bit more class and refinement from their driving experience. The 2015 TLX offers subtle and sleek styling, a spacious cabin, a tech-rich feature list, and a choice of potent, yet frugal, engines ideally suited for both short blasts and longer cruises.
1. Comfortable and roomy cabin
One of the biggest appeals for any sedan, especially a luxury sedan, is the promise of a spacious and comfortable cabin. The 2015 Acura TLX will make you forget you're in a ‘midsize’ sedan. There’s seating for five passengers in a total of 93.3 cu-ft of passenger volume, with generous legroom for everyone — 42.6 inches in the front and 34.5 inches in the back. With standard features including a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leatherette upholstery, the 2015 TLX is a comfortable and pleasant place to be for all occupants.
On the subject of features, there’s a lot of equipment and kit to browse through on the 2015 TLX’s list. And since there aren’t any traditional trim levels, that means a large portion of the available features are included as standard. In terms of optional extras, look for the Technology package, which includes leather upholstery, a navigation system, and a ten-speaker ELS® sound system.
The two engines available for the 2015 TLX both offer a nice balance of power and convenience. The standard engine choice is a 2.4L four-cylinder, which produces 206 horsepower through the front wheels while also being able to achieve a very useful EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined.
As part of that stacked feature list, there’s a big emphasis on driver convenience tech to make every journey as serene as possible. Models equipped with the Technology package include lane departure warning, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision warning. That’s a good selection, but should you want more, the Advance package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and enhanced forward collision warning which includes automatic emergency braking.
The 2015 TLX is a comfortable, well-equipped, spacious cruiser. But should you want to inject a bit of excitement into your driving experience, it’s more than capable of doing that too. Models equipped with front-wheel drive have rear-wheel steering as standard, enhancing turn-in agility. Additionally, the combination of all-wheel drive and the 3.5L V6 engine not only gives you a zero to 60mph time of 6.4 seconds - pretty impressive for a sedan of this type - but the torque vectoring system also distributes power evenly to all four wheels to help with cornering and traction.
