The 2017 Acura TLX is the kind of midsize luxury sedan for those looking for a comfortable and authoritative driving experience without drawing too much attention. The exterior styling is sleek and inside you’ll find a spacious cabin with an abundance of tech and creature comforts. All of this is underpinned by a smooth-riding chassis and a pair of engine options that strike a good balance between horsepower and versatility.
The 2017 Acura TLX provides exactly what you could want from a luxury sedan cabin - spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable. There’s seating for five, with plenty of legroom - 42.6 inches in the front and 34.5 inches in the rear - to allow all passengers to stretch out and relax for the journey ahead. There are also numerous creature comforts afforded as standard, including simulated leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, and a sunroof.
All 2017 TLXs include a dual-screen infotainment interface, heated front seats, and a seven-speaker sound system along with the already-mentioned comfort features. All models can be equipped with the available Technology package, which adds automatic windshield wipers, full leather upholstery, and an enhanced ten-speaker ELS® sound system. Additionally, V6 models can be kitted out with the Advance package, which includes everything in the Technology package plus front seatbelt pre-tensioners, LED foglights, and ventilated front seats.
The 2017 TLX can be found with one of two engine options, and both manage to strike a balance between power and everyday versatility. The standard 206-hp 2.4L is front-wheel drive only with an eight-speed automatic transmission — it's capable of an EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined and 35 mpg on the highway.
To really ensure the driving experience is as relaxing and smooth as possible, the 2017 TLX can be found with a selection of driver convenience technologies. Models with the Technology package have forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning and intervention. Moreover, if the Advance package is also equipped, you get all of the above technologies plus front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking.
While the main focus of the 2017 TLX is on providing a smooth and serene ride, it’s still more than possible to crank up the excitement. Front-wheel-drive models include rear-wheel-steering by default, which makes for sharper cornering and improved agility. However, to have some fun with the 2017 TLX, combine the 3.5L V6 engine with the available all-wheel-drive system. You’ll feel the difference the moment you put your foot down. The all-wheel-drive V6 models are capable of achieving zero to 60 mph in a nippy 6.4 seconds.
