The 2019 Audi RS 5 is based on the Audi A5 platform and can be had in either coupe or four-door hatchback format. As the top performance model of the range, the RS 5 features a turbocharged V6 that sends its 444 horsepower to all four wheels via standard all-wheel drive. Acceleration is rapid, with the RS 5 needing less than 4 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph.
Fresh from a redesign in 2018, this second-generation RS 5 gains the four-door Sportback body style for the 2019 model year. Compared to the coupe variant, the Sportback delivers a significant boost to second-row passenger space and cargo volume. No matter which you choose, however, the RS 5 has a first-rate cabin that’s extremely comfortable and user-friendly in terms of its control layout.
In addition to its mega motor and standard all-wheel drive, every RS 5 is kitted out with standard features like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, navigation, a customizable digital display gauge (Audi’s Virtual Cockpit), three-zone climate control, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning.
Comfort: Despite its hardcore performance image and hefty degree of horsepower, the RS 5 is remarkably comfortable in day-to-day driving. The suspension is adjustable and the front seats provide excellent support.
Sportback interior space and cargo room: The addition of the Sportback body style brings added practicality to the RS 5 lineup. With 21.8 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row, the Sportback has nearly double the trunk space that you get in the coupe.
Performance: With its 444-hp turbocharged V6 and standard all-wheel drive, the RS 5 is extremely quick and has loads of grip. Optional performance hardware includes carbon-ceramic brakes, a sport exhaust, and variable-ratio steering.
Rivals are more exciting: The RS 5 does many things well, but rivals like the BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C 63 are simply more exciting to drive. In polishing the edges of the RS 5, Audi has made the car too muted in how it operates
