First generation BMW iX
The iX was BMW’s first all-electric SUV. It is about the same size as the X5 gas-powered midsize SUV, and it offers seating for five passengers in two spacious rows. Behind the seats is a generous 35.5-cubic-foot cargo area with enough space for a weeklong family road trip or a round of golf.
As a modern electric vehicle, technology is a prominent component of the driving experience. The iX offers a curved 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is responsive and easy to use. The driver information display is also set in a curved pane of glass. As with all BMW products, the iX offers a full suite of advanced driver-assistance features.
Introduced in 2022, the iX has been available in three specifications, all with electric all-wheel drive but with varying performance and range levels. A refreshed version debuted for 2026 with updated electric motors and trims, plus subtle exterior and interior styling tweaks.
