Not many American luxury sedans remain on the market, but the 2023 Cadillac CT5 is holding on. The CT5 was introduced in 2020 with a new style for the luxury brand, featuring a bold grille, slim horizontal headlights, vertical running lights, and a sleek fastback design. For the 2023 model year, the CT5 remains unchanged with the exception of some new color options. The 2023 Cadillac CT5 is offered in five trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, V-Series, and the limited-edition V-Series Blackwing. Engines range from the 237-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant to the Blackwing's hand-built supercharged V8 that delivers a staggering 668 horsepower. Except for the Blackwing, all CT5 trims are available with all-wheel drive. With any of the variants, the CT5 features a roomy cabin with a long list of standard comfort and driver-assist features.
Performance: With multiple engine choices, there’s a wide range of performance levels available from the CT5. While the turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers more than adequate power for most driving situations, the V6 provides quick acceleration and smooth power, aided by the 10-speed automatic transmission. The brakes can be a little touchy, but the handling is good overall, with a well-tuned suspension and precise steering.
Technology: The CT5 features a 10-inch center display that integrates well with the dash and uses physical knobs for volume and tuning, as well as static links to essential features such as audio, navigation, and communications. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard, and multiple USB ports are available. The CT5 also comes standard with a long list of advanced driver-assist features.
Value: The Cadillac CT5 delivers impressive performance and a long list of standard features even on lower-end models, making it a much better value than some of its competitors. While the materials quality may not match that of a Mercedes-Benz or Audi, the savings over these European sedans is substantial.
Storage: As one of the smaller vehicles in its class, the CT5 does not offer much in the way of utility. The Cadillac’s trunk has less than 12 cubic feet of space, though the rear seats do fold in a 60/40 split for a bit more versatility. Cadillac has a complete line of SUVs for those who need more space than the CT5 can offer.
