First generation Cadillac XT4
Cadillac had never offered a compact crossover SUV until it launched the XT4 in 2019. Going up against models like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, the XT4 brought a distinct take on the crossover concept, including a vertical headlight treatment shared with other models from GM’s luxury brand. Inside, the 2019 XT4 had a clean design with a nicely integrated eight-inch touchscreen display. In 2024, the XT4 received a significant styling update with a more sophisticated exterior design and an elegant cabin offering a 33-inch curved display. Automatic emergency braking and forward collision alert were made standard in 2020, and by 2025, a full suite of advanced driver-assist features was standard.
The Cadillac XT4 arrived with a responsive 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, and that powertrain remained the only option for its entire product cycle. All trims of the XT4 could be had with front- or all-wheel drive.
