5 reasons to buy the 2013 Ford F250

1. Big towing capacities and payload

While it may be the smallest of the 2013 Ford Super Duty family, the F250 is still fully loaded when it comes to important stuff like functional usability. It can carry payloads of up to an estimated 4,240 lbs, on the 6.8 ft or 8 ft-long cargo beds. The 6.2L V8 gasoline or 6.7L V8 diesel engines can conventionally tow an estimated 14,000 lbs, with a fifth-wheel towing capacity of an estimated 16,800 lbs, when properly equipped.

With figures like that, the 2013 Ford F250 will take anything you throw at it.

2. Choice of four-wheel drive

Whether you're cruising on the highway or crossing the construction site, the 2013 Ford F250 can handle the smooth or the rough. Available in 4x4 configurations, the optional FX4 off-road package includes fuel tank skid plates, hill descent control, and a transfer case. However, even the standard 4x4 F250 can venture into more rugged terrain easily thanks to its solid front axle and manual locking or electrically operated hubs. An available electronic-locking rear differential will give you more confidence to go off the beaten track.

3. Find the truck that's right for you

The 2013 Ford F250 comes in three basic configurations—Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab—meaning there will be a blue oval-badged super-duty truck for you. A choice of short or long wheelbase options stretches the scope for versatility, along with a range of available packages. Optional features include heavy-service front suspension, an off-road preparation package, CNG and LPG engine preparation, as well as a camper kit. Whatever you demand from a super-duty Ford, the F250 has got you covered.

4. Super luxurious trim

There are five versions of the 2013 Ford F250—XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. The range-topping Platinum is the gold standard of the trims, with features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, memory functions for the power trailer tow mirrors and driver's seat, navigation system with HD Radio technology, as well as premium leather and heated/cooled front seats. Externally, body-colored and chrome-plated elements make the Ford F250 Platinum much more than a utilitarian pick-up.

5. Powerful engine options

The 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty is a big truck, and it has an equally large pair of powerful engine options to choose from. The 6.2L V8 FlexFuel gasoline engine has 385 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. However, if that's not enough, the 6.7L turbodiesel produces 400 hp with a huge 800 lb-ft of pulling power. Both engines put their power down through a six-speed auto transmission.

The 2013 Ford F250 impresses with its strong power, reliability, and styling, making it ideal for heavy hauling. While technology and cabin space are appreciated, cabin noise and upkeep costs are noted drawbacks. Mixed reviews on fuel economy reflect the trade-off for its capabilities. Overall, it remains a reliable, well-rounded work truck.
