The engine choices have been updated for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The previous base-trim V6 has been replaced with a standard 2.7L turbo-four engine, unlocking 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. If that's not enough grunt for you, a 3.0L turbodiesel inline-six engine delivers 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque (AT4, Denali, Denali Ultimate, SLE, Elevation, and SLT trims). There are even two V8 engine options to choose from if you want an additional boost on the highway, in the mountains, or anywhere else you want to go.
Don't be fooled by the rugged look of the exterior—inside, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is sumptuous as well as roomy. The interior has been refreshed for 2022 to add more luxury, with plastic trim replaced by wood and leather accents. In the front, you'll find added comfort with heated and ventilated seats, 43.1 inches of headroom, and a generous 44.5 inches of legroom in the base Pro Regular Cab. In Double Cab and Crew Cab models, which seat six rather than three, the rear seats can be folded to accommodate more cargo.
If you're looking for a truck that will be there for you in every situation, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 delivers. Even the base model offers a maximum estimated towing capacity of 9,900 lbs. when properly equipped.
The infotainment system on the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is impressively user-friendly. The base screen is seven inches and has Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capabilities, a six-speaker audio system (two speakers for Regular Cab models), and Bluetooth® connectivity. As part of the 2022 refresh, the Sierra 1500 got a few tech upgrades, including a 13.4-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation (available on trims higher than the base Pro).
Another welcome addition for 2022 is an increased number of driver aids. As standard, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has lane-keep assist, a rearview camera, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning. You can set aside your concerns when driving this comfortable and robust pickup truck.
