2023 Honda Accord is fully redesigned

The Honda Accord was fully redesigned for 2023, though the midsize sedan's 11th generation will be familiar to fans of the previous generation. It received a refreshed exterior and simplified, back-to-basics interior while its trims were slightly shuffled.

That trim shuffle can most prominently be seen in the engine choices. Unfortunately the turbocharged 2.0-liter is gone, replaced by Honda’s 2.0-liter hybrid drivetrain in top trims. The base trims (LX and EX) use the same turbocharged 1.5-liter engine from the previous generation. The Accord’s 204-hp hybrid engine is a notable power bump over the 192-hp 1.5-liter base engine, and both have respectable EPA estimates, with 32 mpg combined for the base engine and 48 mpg for the hybrid.

Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard features, and they’re wireless in Sport and higher trims. Advanced driving aids like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assistance are standard on the base LX trim, but creature comforts like heated seats or premium audio with a 9-inch touchscreen require finding an upper-trim model.

5 reasons to buy the 2023 Honda Accord

What we like

Performance: The hybrid engine doesn't ask you to sacrifice performance in the name of fuel economy. A 0-60 mph time of 7 seconds, a second quicker than most midsize hybrids, is impressive and speaks well to the Accord's do-it-all sensibilities.

Comfort: You don't get much outside noise sneaking into the cabin in any drive mode, but when the Accord is in all-electric mode it's practically silent. Climate control is solid and easy to use thanks to the physical buttons that sit under the touchscreen.

Storage: The Accord's trunk is one of the largest among midsize sedans, offering 16.7 cubic feet of storage. There are cupholders everywhere you'd expect to find them, and there are plenty of places to store your smaller items.

What needs improvement

Value: Build quality is a strength for the Accord; there aren't loose-fitting panels or unexpected squeaks in the interior. But the sedan is a bit light on features considering its cost. Competitors like the Hyundai Sonata offer more features at lower trim levels.
