The Infiniti QX55 is a sportier coupe-like take on the QX50 luxury SUV
The 2023 Infiniti QX55 has a tapering roofline that’s meant to lend a sportier, more coupe-like design to this small luxury SUV. It shares an engine, suspension, and many other parts with the more conventionally styled QX50 SUV. The slicker QX55 comes standard with all-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Though this SUV is tuned to be more performance-minded than the QX50, ultimate driving thrills aren’t exactly a hallmark. While the QX55 is plenty quick, the transmission reacts slowly, making it harder to do things like pass a semi on the freeway.
To its credit, it offers more cargo volume than rivals like the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. Infiniti also isn’t stingy when it comes to standard features and new for the 2023 model year, every QX55 comes standard with adaptive cruise control and leather seating.

What We Like
Lots of standard features: Even low-end models of the QX55 are surprisingly well-equipped. It features standard leather upholstery and wireless smartphone connectivity, and it comes with many driver-assist systems standard as well. Many rivals, especially European ones, have those only as options, meaning you’re not as likely to find the features you want when shopping used.
Standard all-wheel drive: Infiniti equips every trim level of QX55 with all-wheel drive. It provides extra grip for slippery road conditions and is meant to boost the sporty appeal of this sleek SUV.
Cargo volume: Yes, its mechanical sibling the QX50 has more overall cargo space because of its more upright shape. But compared to a number of rival luxury SUVs with coupe-like rooflines, the QX55 offers cargo volume that's better than most and adequate for routine errands.
What Needs Improvement
Dual-screen infotainment system: The infotainment system’s dual-screen layout is awkward and doesn’t seem to add anything in terms of menu layout or user-friendly controls. A simpler single-screen arrangement makes more sense.
