The Ram 3500 is one of the most capable pickup trucks on the market. This current generation was introduced in 2019, and for 2022 the big truck carries the same look but adds a new 360-degree surround-view camera feature and a new Uconnect5® infotainment system. Ram offers the 3500 in multiple configurations, including regular cab, crew cab, and for those who need extra space, there's the Mega Cab. All are available in two- or four-wheel drive, and the Ram 3500 can be ordered with dual rear wheels. When it comes to towing or hauling, the Ram 3500 is tough to beat. The heavy-duty Ram can tow up to 37,090 pounds when equipped with the high-output Cummins turbo diesel engine or haul 7,680 pounds with the V8 powertrain.Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories. Trim levels range from the basic Tradesman to the lavish Limited with an interior that rivals some luxury vehicles. The one-ton truck market has few competitors: The Ram 3500 competes against the F-350 Super Duty, Chevrolet Silverado 3500, and GMC Sierra 3500.
Towing: With the gas-powered V8 or Cummins diesel under the hood, the Ram 3500 is an ideal platform for towing or hauling very large loads, with more capability than most consumers will ever need. In addition to being able to pull more than 37,000 pounds (like towing five fully loaded F-150s), the Ram 3500 comes with a range of towing aids like the trailer-reverse guidance camera, trailer 360-view bird's-eye view camera, blind-spot warning with trailer coverage, and an auto-leveling rear air suspension.
Infotainment: Depending on the trim level, the Ram 3500 can be equipped with the latest Ram infotainment system, called Uconnect5. It is four times faster than the previous version and is one of the most intuitive infotainment systems available. Buyers can also look for the large 12-inch configurable display, the largest in the class.
Interior: Ram offers one of the largest and most comfortable interiors in the heavy-duty truck category with a clean, intuitive design. The optional Mega Cab features rear legroom on par with the largest luxury vehicles, and top-level trims are well-appointed with natural wood and leather trim throughout. The cab has considerable storage with a multi-level center console that can handle a 15-inch laptop.
City Driving: The Ram 3500 one-ton pickup is large by design, but its size can make it difficult to maneuver around town. With the dual-rear-wheel option, the big truck is 8 feet wide, which means parking can be a challenge in typical parking spaces. Drivers need to be aware of their surroundings to keep from scraping in narrow situations.
