The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 is one of the most luxurious SUVs available. Its rivals have been refreshed more recently, including the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, but the GLC's great styling, luxurious interior and impressive tech continue to make it a top choice.
2022 marked the final year of the first GLC generation and Mercedes-Benz lightly streamlined the SUV's features and dropped the previously available V8 engine. The standard four-cylinder engine is powerful enough for most drivers; the GLC 300 can make passes on highways easily. Its maneuverability is perhaps its best feature. It may be a stretch to say it's fun to drive, but the GLC 300 is a pleasure to be in.
Its weakness is certainly its storage capacity. While the rival BMW X3 offers nearly 30 cu-ft of storage, the GLC 300 boasts just 19.4 cu-ft. That's well below average for the class. Despite the less-than-desirable storage, you'll find ample room for passengers—the backseat is comfortable for adults and kids alike.
Tech: The standard infotainment system, MBUX, is impressive, good-looking and easy to use. A stand-out feature is the voice control system, which is one of the few worth using. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard features.
Interior: Luxurious and filled with premium features, the interior is a great place to spend time, making the GLC 300 a wonderful daily driver. The driver's seat is heavily adjustable and the rear seat offers ample legroom.
Performance: The suspension leans towards comfort, but the engine is powerful enough to deliver an engaging driving experience. Steering is light and responsive enough to make driving around town enjoyable.
Storage: Cargo space is lacking compared to rivals like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. Maximum towing capacity, when properly equipped, is just 3,300 pounds, compared to the more than 4,000 pounds the X3 is capable of hauling.
