The Jaguar F-Pace is a dynamic and entertaining five-passenger luxury crossover. With its spirited handling and taut suspension, the F-Pace looks and feels like a sport sedan that happens to come in an SUV-sized wrapper. For the 2018 model year, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder joins the lineup and produces 247 horsepower in base format, or up to 296 hp in upper trims. A punchy 380-hp supercharged V6 is also available, as is a gas-sipping 180-hp turbocharged diesel engine. Each is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
The cabin of the F-Pace has adult-friendly levels of space in the first and second row, plus the cargo hold is more spacious than you expect in an SUV with a sporty streak to it. Too bad the infotainment system is glitchy and can be difficult to use. In addition, while the optional larger alloy wheels add to the F-Pace’s debonair design, they make the ride much bumpier when traversing anything but perfectly paved roads.
Ride and handling: The F-Pace drives like a sport sedan on stilts, and that’s truly meant as high praise (pun intended). From behind the wheel, this Jaguar has quick reflexes that urge you to relax and enjoy the drive. Few SUV rivals come anywhere close to matching the athleticism offered in the F-Pace.
Cargo volume: Yes, the F-Pace is fun to drive, but it’s also a very practical choice among five-passenger luxury crossovers. Behind the foldable split second row you’ll find a cargo area measuring in at roughly 33 cubic feet. That’s a lot of space and it proves the F-Pace has a sensible side.
Supercharged V6: Jaguar provides an F-Pace customer with plenty of powertrain options, that’s for certain. Though it’s no surprise the supercharged V6 is the one to choose if you’re after rapid acceleration and a little snarl from the exhaust system too.
Glitchy infotainment system: The F-Pace is fitted with an eight-inch touchscreen that’s both slow in its response times and prone to freezing between menus. An optional 10-inch screen has larger graphics but is equally frustrating. Later models use an updated touchscreen that’s more responsive, but it still trails rivals from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, and Porsche.
