As Jaguar’s largest SUV, the five-passenger F-Pace sits above the pert E-Pace. Fresh from an update for the 2021 model year, the 2022 F-Pace remains largely unchanged. Among other things, this means all-wheel drive is still standard no matter which of the four available engines you choose.
A 246-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder does duty as the base powertrain. It’s efficient but no speed demon. A turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six is optional and produces 345 horsepower in the F Pace S, or 395 horsepower in the F Pace R-Dynamic S. Sitting atop the range is a 542-horsepower supercharged V8 that’s nestled under the hood of the mighty F-Pace SVR.
The 2022 F-Pace carries over the suspension updates from the previous year, which improve ride comfort but take the edge off the handling. It’s still a sporty SUV at heart, not to mention one that boasts a roomy cargo area and maximum towing capacity of around 5,200 pounds. Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. The infotainment system comes standard with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ but has some complicated menus.
Acceleration: The optional turbocharged inline-six gives the F-Pace considerably more grunt than the base turbo-four. Of course, there’s always the 542-horsepower supercharged V8 found exclusively in the F-Pace SVR trim. This engine is a riot in how it rockets the F-Pace down the road. It also has an exhaust bellow that you’ll absolutely love, though it could strain friendly relations with your neighbors.
Cargo volume, towing capacity: The F-Pace has a commodious cargo hold that makes it practical for anyone with an aversion to packing light. It also comes with a sizable towing capacity of approximately 5,200 pounds.
Sporty to drive: The F-Pace is a joy to drive and has a suspension that’s adaptable to all types of driving conditions. We’ve already noted the straight-line speed afforded by the optional inline-six and V8 powertrains. Yet, even in base trim, the F-Pace is agile and zips along twisty roads with ease.
Control interface: Like many automakers these days, Jaguar uses touch-sensitive controls for many interior functions. Unfortunately, the touch-sensitive buttons don't always work, making simple tasks frustrating.
