The 2020 Kia Sedona has SUV styling and minivan practicality

After a midcycle refresh last year that brought updated styling and added features, the 2020 Kia Sedona zooms into another model year with no significant changes. Motivated by a 276-horsepower V6 that’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Sedona is surprisingly quick for a minivan. While it doesn’t have the optional all-wheel drive you find in rivals like the Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica, the Sedona has light steering, is quiet on the highway, and delivers a comfortable ride, even if the suspension is on the firm side for a family hauler with seating for seven to eight people.

Inside, you’ll find Kia spent a lot of effort making the cabin a spacious and nicely appointed environment in which to spend your time. A seven-inch touchscreen is standard and comes with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Moving up to the SX trim adds a slightly bigger eight-inch screen. A number of active driver-assist features are available, though few are fitted as standard equipment. That said, the 2020 Sedona performs extremely well in crash test safety ratings.

5 reasons to buy the 2020 Kia Sedona

What We Like

SUV-like interior: We know the Sedona is a minivan, though it exudes some SUV attitude when you’re behind the steering wheel. Credit the attractive cabin design, well-positioned seats, and commanding view of the road ahead.

Infotainment system: The Uvo infotainment system is one of the more intuitive interfaces you’ll encounter. Clear menus and attractive graphics make this Kia’s touchscreen easy and safe to navigate while driving.

Highway passing power: The Sedona’s V6 has more than enough power on tap to make highway passing maneuvers a simple—and swift—driving experience. Fitted to an eight-speed automatic, this powertrain is refined and seamless in town or on the highway.

What Needs Improvement

Fixed second-row seating: A number of minivans allow you to remove or stow their second- and third-row seating. Not the Sedona. The second row can’t be removed, which means hauling especially bulky objects might not be possible in this Kia minivan.
