The 2023 Navigator is the biggest SUV in Lincoln’s lineup. It’s based on the related Ford Expedition but distinguishes itself with lavish luxury. It can carry as many as eight passengers (seven if you opt for the second-row captain’s chairs), and the third row is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate adults. There’s also plenty of cargo space behind that row, and if you need more, the longer Navigator L provides 77% more capacity. The Navigator isn’t all brawn either—its hands-free automated driving system and easy-to-use infotainment system give it some tech smarts too.
The 2023 Lincoln Navigator did not receive any notable changes from the previous year. It continues to deliver strong performance and towing capabilities among its peers and is a worthy alternative to the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Lexus LX 600, and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Powerful turbocharged V6 engine: All Navigators benefit from a powerful 440-horsepower turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. The engine provides quick acceleration, is responsive, and gets you up to speed in a hurry. This also translates to high towing capabilities, maxing out at an impressive 8,700 pounds when properly equipped.
Three rows of spacious comfort: A lot of three-row SUVs intend the rearmost row for smaller passengers and occasional use, but the Navigator has plenty of room for adults in all three rows. Accessing them is easy thanks to large door openings and well-placed grab handles.
Plentiful cargo capacity: The Navigator can hold as much as 19.3 cubic feet of cargo behind the third row of seats. At the touch of a button, they fold flat into the cargo floor, expanding the space to 57.5 cubic feet. At its maximum, with the second row folded, you can haul nearly twice that. A handy multi-level cargo tray also allows for quick access through the rear window.
Low fuel economy: Rear-wheel-drive Navigator models have an EPA estimate of 19 mpg in combined driving. Four-wheel drive drops that figure to 18 mpg combined
