The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 is a suave and sophisticated choice among small luxury sedans. Competing against rivals that include the BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS, the C300 is notable for its smooth ride, handsome exterior, and an impeccable cabin. With this in mind, Mercedes isn’t letting its compact luxury sedan rest on its laurels.
For the 2019 model year, Mercedes-Benz updated the C300 sedan’s front and rear styling, made Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ standard, and bumped the horsepower of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine slightly, up to 255 hp versus 241 hp previously. Enthusiast drivers can also jump to three AMG-tuned models motivated by twin-turbo V6 or V8 engines.
Rear-wheel drive is the default powertrain on the C300, though all-wheel drive is available. There is also the choice of coupe and convertible body styles, if a sedan is too staid for your sophisticated tastes.
Attractive exterior: The C300 was already a good-looking small luxury sedan, but the exterior updates for the 2019 model year make it even more of a head-turner. It’s not overly flashy, but the C300 cuts a stylish path through traffic.
Cabin quality: Mercedes has a knack for building exemplary interiors, and the C300 drives that point home. The design and layout are extremely well thought out. From behind the wheel, the classy cabin is a nice reminder you spent your money wisely.
Performance: Yes, the performance-themed AMG models are a riot to drive, especially when fitted with the twin-turbo V8. But even the base 255-hp turbocharged four-cylinder gets the C300 down the road without any hesitation. Passing power is readily available whenever you need it.
Infotainment system quirks: There is a definite learning curve when it comes to the C300’s infotainment system and its various controls. It gets better with practice, though many rivals offer more user-friendly designs.
