The 2021 Nissan Titan full-size pickup comes standard with a V8 engine, and its comfortable cabin is available in smaller King Cab or larger crew-cab configurations. Two bed sizes are available, 6-foot 6-inch or 5-foot 7-inch, and the Titan’s payload capacity of around 1,650 pounds and towing capacity of around 9,000 pounds is enough for most jobs. Various factors may impact towing & payload capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories. The Nissan Titan lineup received a thorough refresh for the 2020 model year and remains unchanged for 2021. Available trims include S, SL, SV, Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve, providing a good range of price and features across the board. Standard on all 2021 Nissan Titan trims are Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration for a seamless infotainment experience from phone to car.
We also applaud Nissan’s decision to make forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and other driver assist systems standard. Unfortunately, while the Titan covers the full-size truck basics, it comes up short against class-leading rivals such as the Ford F-150, Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado, all of which offer more flexibility when it comes to engines, cabs, bed sizes, capability, and features.
Comfort: One of the 2021 Nissan Titan’s clear strengths is its comfortable ride. The suspension lets this big truck ride smoothly over broken and cracked pavement and other bumps without disturbing the driver and passengers. It’s backed up by comfortable front seats that are both cushy and supportive. The automatic climate control is also quick to react.
Interior: The column-mounted shift lever, oversized buttons and door handles give the 2021 Nissan Titan interior a familiar feel for truck fans. The driver has a commanding view of the road, so much so that taller drivers may wish the seat adjusted even lower, but it’s a minor gripe. Unfortunately, the roominess of the front seats doesn’t apply to the rear seats in either the King or Crew Cabs, and big blind spots make it hard to see out of the back.
Technology: Nissan deserves praise for making its suite of advanced driver assist features standard equipment, and the system’s features, such as adaptive cruise control, feel smooth and natural. For a fee, the NissanConnect app suite includes a live on-call concierge who can troubleshoot tech problems or send directions straight into your vehicle. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity is standard on all trims, and the nine-inch touchscreen that comes on most Titans provides crisp and clear graphics.
Personality: The Nissan Titan gets the basics right, but doesn’t stand out compared to its rivals, and it lacks a compelling reason for consumers to pick it instead of its competitors. “Competent” doesn’t cut it when competition like the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado have multiple body and bed configurations and engines, and even the Toyota Tundra has a hybrid drivetrain.
