Porsche came to market with the Panamera in 2011. It was a four-door sedan with performance deserving of the Porsche name. Redesigned in 2017, the Panamera now is offered as a Sport Turismo wagon, standard sedan, and extended-wheelbase model. The 2020 Panamera is primarily unchanged from the previous model year; however, Porsche is offering a 10 Years Edition to celebrate a decade of Panamera production. The Porsche Panamera is available with a range of engine options, from the 330-horsepower turbocharged V6 to the top-level Turbo S E-Hybrid that boasts 677 hp. Seven trim levels and available all-wheel drive provide a variety of options for Panamera customers. With a long list of luxury features and a comfortable ride, the Panamera meets the needs of luxury-sedan buyers while providing the performance of a sports car.
Performance: It may have the versatility of a four-door sedan, but the Panamera boasts performance on a par with much smaller sports cars. One of the quickest cars in its class, the Panamera has precise steering, excellent brakes, and proper sports car suspension, allowing this big sedan to tackle twisty roads like a Porsche 911. For the ultimate performance, the top-level Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will reach 60 mph in less than 3 seconds—impressive for a big, heavy sedan.
Comfort: The suspension is on the stiff side, but overall the Panamera delivers a smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride. The front seats offer multiple adjustments to fit just about any size driver. The seat padding is thin, but there is still good support, reducing fatigue even on a long day's drive. Two comfortable standard bucket seats make the rear seat an enviable position.
Interior: The Panamera's cabin is luxurious and has a long list of standard features, befitting the car's hefty price tag. As is typical with Porsches, the list of options is almost as long, with available features like ventilated seats, soft-close doors, and sport seats. Rear passengers will find plenty of legroom, especially in the extended-length Executive models. The center console has a high-end appearance and soft-touch controls.
Technology: The 12.3-inch infotainment system looks good but can be confusing. Menus can be overcomplicated, which can be distracting while driving. The center console has a high-tech look with many capacitive soft-touch buttons that are not easy to operate while keeping eyes on the road.
