Roomy and comfortable

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat is a superb option for you and your crew for a range of reasons, but it all starts with its spacious and comfortable cabin. The front seats can handle people of all shapes and sizes with 42.4 inches of legroom. The rear seats aren’t to be ignored either, as their 39.1 inches of legroom is plenty for kids, teens, and even adults. On top of all the passenger space, the 2015 Passat also has plenty of room for your cargo in its 15.9-cu-ft trunk. That’s more than enough room for a week’s worth of groceries while still leaving room for other odds and ends.

5 reasons to buy the 2015 Volkswagen Passat

1. Peppy base engine

The 2015 Passat dropped its old five-cylinder base engine in favor of a 1.8L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine will please your performance-loving side with 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque that helps sprint this sedan to 60 mph in a respectable 7.7 seconds. And with its peak torque available low in the RPMs, it leaps from the line and feels much quicker than it really is. Plus, your fuel-conscious side will appreciate that it gets an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined with the manual transmission.

The automatic transmission’s EPA-estimated highway mpg drops to 34 mpg, but all others are the same as the manual.

2. Powerful V6 option

If more power is at the top of your list, the 2015 Passat offers an optional 3.6L V6 engine in the SEL Premium trim. This V6 engine delivers 280 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This translates to a 6.4-second zero-to-60 time (according to the manufacturer, when new).

3. Solid standard features

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat has plenty of standard features to please your more discerning side. Some highlights include steering-wheel-mounted controls, power mirrors, automatic headlights, driver’s seat lumbar, and more. For your inner audiophile, it has a standard six-speaker audio system with an auxiliary input and Bluetooth® connectivity. If you need even more features, you can get an eight-speaker audio system, a touchscreen radio, synthetic leather upholstery, and even a Fender premium audio system in higher trim levels.

4. Diesel option

The 2015 Passat’s engine options also include one diesel option: a 2.0L turbodiesel four-cylinder engine with 140 hp. While that’s not much power, it also has 236 lb-ft of torque, which helps it leap from the line quicker. What you’ll love about this diesel engine is its EPA-estimated 30 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined with the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

5. Spacious and comfy cabin

The 2015 Passat’s cabin is quite roomy and can accommodate your kids or teens. However, it can also haul around your adult friends or work colleagues. The Passat’s front seats feature 42.4 inches of legroom and nice padding to make long hauls more comfortable. The rear seats are just as impressive, with an adult-friendly 39.1 inches of legroom. Cargo’s not an issue in the Passat either, as its 15.9-cu-ft trunk can tackle all your cargo-hauling needs. This is all on top of the Passat’s upscale interior materials, premium-looking gauges, and more.
